A new life starts with a new home.
The earthquake in Haïti has made a large number of people homeless. While at this moment many seek shelter in tents from the Red Cross and receive medical attention, soon the rebuilding of the affected area will become priority # 1.
As estimates show, the disaster on the island has left over 1 million people homeless. There is no time left for long planning procedures: plans for new construction are required today.
The Tempohousing system with modular prefabricated units is ideal for creating new housing projects at a very high speed and large scale. The climate conditions and the seismic movements also call for solid structures to replace the temporary tent camps.
In such conditions it is ideal to have a flexible solution that can help the population immediately, while at the same time offering a permanent residential solution for the longer term. This is exactly what the Tempohousing system offers. We have put together a brochure that you can download from our website.
The designs for the Rapid Shelter contain all components necessary to set up a complete building. With only basic tools and a crane the whole building is complete in a matter of days. These components include connectors for easy stacking, a roof structure system for extra insulation and platforms to access the homes on the first floor. In the modules – that come in different varieties – an interior package is included (with beds, blankets and a lot more) to make the homes immediately ready to use.
The 3 basic modules enable any configuration for floor lay outs possible: from a single family home up to larger spaces for educational or children daycare facilities.
As all the buildings are set up in a modular way they can also be relocated in the future should that be necessary for planning purposes. They can also serve as solid permanent solutions for the longer term, which avoids loss of capital invested in short term solutions.
