The past year has not been the easiest period for many friends and relatives as we have seen that the economical down turn has cost jobs and has brought companies to return to their key activities and operate in a winter sleep mode, just to live through these uncertain times. Of course also Tempohousing was faced with postponement of challenging projects but being free of debts and with a flexible and lean organization, we are ready for the new era with more energy than ever.

Right from the start of our company a little over 5 years ago, we are on a daily basis approached with enthusiastic believers in fast and affordable housing for everyone and everywhere. Our product is simple and universal and we will keep it that way. Especially during these very cold days in Amsterdam where we cannot even use our bicycles with their  locks completely frozen, we realize how the simple idea of a converted shipping container can help so many people out there in deprived  conditions.

In many countries on all continents, there is still an unbelievable demand for a proper home, safe and dry and durable. Uncountable families will have to spend the Christmas days without a roof at all and deprived of all the luxury we are already used to.  Although we are more and more active in the hospitality market for plug-and-play hotel rooms to meet even the most  tight timetables and budget figures, most of our effort will still be focused on large scale housing programs.

The third leg of our business model is actually similar to our first project: housing students. Students cannot afford a high rent but need proper housing to do what they need most – a silent and comfortable place to study. Universities have contacted us, in North America, West and East Europe, Africa, South America, the Middle East, the Far East and the South Pacific, it seems that student dormitories are needed everywhere. When we started our company, many laughed at the idea of living in shipping containers but by now everybody is convinced that it is the ultimate solution with our concept of well insulated, safe and spacious solutions. All the projects we have built in the markets have waiting lists, sometimes more than a year.

With the gradual acceptance of our industrial approach of prefabricated container homes, we have no doubt in our minds that in the next decade containerized homes will be more popular than ever.
